US Open; Serena Williams defeats Karolina Pliskova to make into the semifinals

Serena Williams who was suffering from a slow start ultimately made it into semi finals after defeating Karolina Pliskova in the quarterfinals.

Williams who initially struggling with a 4-2 made a comeback with 6-4, and 6-3 to win on the Tuesday night match.

Next Serena is up against the 19th seed Anastasija Seveastova who made it to semifinals after beating the defending champion Solane Stephens.

Back in 2016, Pliskova actually eliminated Serena in the US Open Semifinals. After becoming the mother; the 23 times Grand Slam Winner is actually a runner up for winning the tournament.

Williams said that she won the quarterfinals due to serving for the match and after that hitting three aces and overhead smash.

36 years old Williams said to media that, “I am not under illusion that I have ten more years of opportunities to play and win in these championships. This time every match means a really lot to me. I kind of go out there and give it my all”.

Williams is only two wins sort of tying with the record haul of winning 24 Grand Slams. The previous 24 Grand Slam winning record is held by Margaret Court.
