US wins over Canada by 84-68 in pre-FIBA World Cup game

The order has once more been restored for the US basketball team.  After having their first international loss in the past 13 years, the United States team was able to bounce back and defeat the team Canada by 84-68 in their Pre-FIBA World Cup game held on Monday night.

The game was played on the same arena where US team previously won the Olympic Gold medal for the 2000’s Sydney games.

Earlier on Saturday, Australia defeated the US by 98-94 in front of a crowd of 52000+ fans held in Melbourne. This defeat ended US’s winning streak of 78 games.

This year, team US is missing out on many important players such as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and James Harden.

In this game, it was Jaylen Brown who led the team with his 19 points while Donovan Mitchell added in his 12 points along with 4 assists; Kemba Walker scored 12 points while Myles Turner finished for the team with his 10 points along with 15 rebounds.

Browns said of the team talking about the World Cup that is going to start shortly after a week, “we are going to take this time and learn the curve. We do have a lot of space for making considerable growth. It is going to be good when it all comes together.  The sky is the limit for us.”

As for team Canada, they were led by Kyle Wiltjer, who scored 21 points while his teammate Khem Birch, who is the sole player of team Canada from NBA and the forward of Orlando Magic, scored 13 points along with 13 rebounds.

Wiltjer said, “We obviously have a lot of work to do but we obviously did enjoy our time here. Let us not forget that these are only practice game.”

Canada will start their World Cup campaign on September 1st when the play in Dongguan, China against Australia. As for the USA, they will start their World Cup race on September 1st in Shanghai playing against the Czech Republic.
