WBC orders Dillian Whyte VS Dominic Breazeale fight

WBC has ordered an interim fight for the heavyweight title between Dillian Whyte and Dominic Breazeale.

Both Whyte and Breazeale have only suffered their single defeat of the career against the IBF, WBA and WBO world champion; Anthony Joshua. If anyone of them wins their fight against each other, they would have a shot for a world title fight.

Last year, both fighters walked off when they failed to come to terms for a potential bout. However, now the Deontay Wilder’s WBC title at stake, there is plenty of motivation for both fighters to agree to this fight.

Whyte, after hearing the news, took it to Twitter to express his apparent excitement at the WBC’s announcement of this fight. He wrote, “Yeahhhhhhh boyyyyyyy awwwwww snapppppppp”.

Whyte also had been in talks with Joshua for a rematch at Wembley but now they have both been pursuing other goals.

Joshua’s promoter, Edie Hearn says that Joshua facing Jarrell Miller in New York this June is a ‘strong possibility” and now Whyte also seems to be looking to take an American opponent.

Breazeale has established himself as a mandatory challenger for Dillian Whyte’s WBC belt.

Whyte had been knocked out by Joshua back in December of 2015 whereas Breazeale had been defeated by Joshua six months after.

Breazeale’s current career record is 20-1 with 18 knockout wins while Whyte’s record is 25-1 with 18 knockout wins.
