World Cup opener England VS South Africa won by England

The opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup played between England And South Africa ended in a 104-run win for England Jofra  Archer made his stunning debut in the match while Ben Stokes made a magnificent last wicket catch to lead team’s win.

Archer was able to get 3 wickets by giving away only 27 runs. Following the dismissal of 3 South African batsmen was him dealing quite a damage to the 4th one as Hashim Amla had to be taken off the field for being tested for a concussion as he got a devastating bouncer during the 4th over.

However, Archer’s efforts were mildly overshadowed from his teammate Stokes as he made a one-handed catch as ran he ran back to the deep midwicket boundary to show Andile Phehlukwayo pout of the field.

Earlier when England batted first to set the chase score at 311-8, Stokes produced an amazing performance as he scored 89 runs.

South Africa won the toss and Faf du Plessis of the team decided to bowl first which came as a surprise not as much of a surprise as Imran Tahir getting the opening over.

With the match being concluded in England’s win England will now face Pakistan on Monday when they will play at Trent Bridge. As for South Africa, they will have to wait until Sunday when they will play against Bangladesh at The Oval.
