Novak Djokovic is set to face Juan Martin del Potro in the US Open Final

Djokovic, the winner for 2011 and 2015 US Open tournament has now the chance again to win the third title in New York. If he wins this match it will be his 14th Grand Slam Crown.

Novak Djokovic made it into the finals after beating Kei Nishikori in their semi finals match. Djokovic was able to make it into the finals by gaining 14 straight victories in the US Open tournament this year and now he is set to face Juan Del Potro.

Djokovic was able to gain revenge on Nishikori for his 2014’s defeat and setting the win record straight with 15-4. The score count between two was 6-3, 6-4 and 6-2 that resulted in Djokovic’s victory.

31 years old Djokovic has made his 11th consecutive appearance in the last four major events. With this semi final win he has an impressive record of having 25 wins out of 27 matches. This career stat also includes winning of title at both Wimbledon and Cincinnati Masters.

Unfortunately for Nishikori who did not get into the final after the four years ago match; was able to make it so far by defeating Martin Cilic. Sadly he was ragged by the 31 years old Serb in the first set.

Nishikori; the 21st seed was suffering from a wrist injury that happened last year which further dulled his progress during the match. H was able to find some foothold on the court but until the fifth set the pressure began to mount up and he broke under it.

Relentless Djokovic pushed Nishikori to his limits and both players demonstrated best of their abilities in this match. However it was time for Djokovic to shine and make it to his eight final that is going to happen at Flushing Meadows.

Djokovic is to face Juan del Potro in their Sunday match the final of US Open Tournament. Djokovic has won six out of their 7 last meetings.
