Novak Djokovic wins over Roger Federer to have his fifth Wimbledon title

In the thrilling final of the men’s singles final at Wimbledon played between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer ended with a historic win for Djokovic.

Djokovic saved two championship point on his way to winning his career’s 5th Wimbledon title as well as his 16th Grand Slam title.

The world rank no. 1 Djokovic won over Federer by 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, and 13-12 (7-3) in a  match that was played for 4 hours and 55 minutes as the longest men’s final to be ever played in the history of All England Club.

Djokovic was on the losing end at 8-7 during the 5th set but then he denied Federer his 21st Grand Slam win to defend his won Wimbledon title for the second time in a row at the All England Club.

With this title win, Djokovic is only two titles behind Rafael Nadal’s career record of 18 Grand Slam titles and 4 behind Roger Federer’s 20 Grand Slam titles.

The next major tournament of this season is the US Open that will be played in the coming month at the Flushing Meadows.
