Serena Williams reaches the semifinals of US Open by beating Wang Qiang in only 44 minutes

Serena Williams managed to easily defeat her quarterfinals opponent Wang Qiang with a dominant victory in a match held at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The 8th seeded player Williams was able to defeat the 18th seeded Qiang, who is a winner of the WTA Tour 2 times, easily by 6-1 and 6-0 in only 44 minutes. With this, Williams has won her 100th career’s singles match at the last Grand Slam tournament of the season.

37 years old Williams seemed as if she was playing to win the title game and broke her opponent on every play.

Williams now advances to play in the semifinals against Elina Svitolina after the 5th seeded Ukrainian player defeated her 16th seeded opponent Johanna Konta.

Williams said, “She has had a great year. I have to be able to come out again like tonight and play against her. I am very happy and enjoyeed every moment.”

Qiang, who was playing at the Arthur Ashe Stadium for the first time in her career, was only able to break once during the 6th game of the first set. After that, Qiang was never able to win against powerful strikes of Williams.  Serna Williams shot 25 winners and outpaced Qiang by 50-15 on points.

Both ankles of Williams were heavily taped which she had rolled up during the 4th round match and showed her having a brace too.

Serena is on the hunt to win the Grand Slam to equalize the Grand Slam title record of 24 titles. She has won 23 majors with 6 of them being the US open titles and last of those 6 was back in 2014.

The last Grand Slam title that Serena won was the Australian Open title back in 2017. it was 3 months later of that title win she announced that she was pregnant with her daughter Alexis Olympia who is now 2 years old.
