Atlético gets a late goal to draw 2-2 against Juventus

In the Wednesday night match of Champions League between Juventus and Atlético Madrid, Atlético was once more finding itself in trouble but they still kept on pushing their opponents.

Atlético was trailing behind the opponents by 2 goals who 6 months ago knocked them out of the competition. But this time, they were able to find themselves a way to make a comeback.

Hector Herrera had a goal in the 90th minute for his debut with Atlético to end the game in 2-2 draw against Juventus in the opening game of the group.

Diego Simeone, coach of Atlético Madrid said, “What I like the most tonight was that we never gave up. We kept pressing and trying to make chances. This draw was a well deserve one for us.”

Atlético was put back in the game with a 70th minute goal from Stefan Savic after Cristiano Ronaldo made 2 goals for Juventus in the first half.

Herrera said, “The main trait of this team is that it keeps on fighting till the end. We wanted to have a win but this draw against a team like Juventus is still a great result.”

As for Ronaldo, he was jeered t heavily from crowd of Atlético especially when he touched the ball. Maurizio Sarri, the coach of Juventus said, “I think we played really well but I still have the bitter taste in my mouth because we were so close to a win. We need to have more focus and attention on set pieces. We will try to work hard on this.”

As for other matches of the group, Lokomotiv Moscow defeated Bayer Leverkusen by 2-1.

Up next, Juventus will host a game ags8int Bayer Leverkusen while Atlético will be hosted for a game by Lokomotiv.
