FA Cup; Man United defeats Chelsea, advances to the quarterfinals

From Manchester United’s side, Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba both scored goals in the first half of the game to win over the Chelsea by 2-0. With this win, Manchester United has now advanced to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.

With this win, Manchester United has reached the quarterfinals of the FA Cup for the 5th time in a row.

 

United has not played since their 2-0 defeat against the Paris Saint Germain in the opening leg of the Champions League last week. This was the only defeat that United’s interim coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 13-game career.

Sarri of Chelsea’s side said, “I can understand the situation our fans are in right now. The results were not good tonight. We are out of the FA Cup so in understand their anger and frustration. But I am worried about our own results.”

Chelsea started off well under Sarri’s lineup but United grew into the game as they took the game aggressively.

Pogba from United’s side, who was deployed in the midfield was fed ball from the left side by Herrera who headed the ball for first goal unnoticed.

A second goal soon followed for United as Pogba won the ball in midfield and fed it to Marcus Rashford who fed it to Pogba form pinpoint cross.

Hazard from Chelsea’s side tried to spark his team in the second half with an effort to cut in form the right. Unfortunately, his shot was blocked by Victor Lindelof.

Up next, Manchester United will face the Wolverhampton for the quarterfinals match of the FA Cup that will be played on March 15-17. As for Manchester City, they will travel to Swansea for a game while Millwall will host Brighton and Walford will play against Crystal Palace.
