Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco; Alexander Zverev starts his campaign with a win

Alexander Zverev, the world no. 3 player starts his campaign at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco with a win in the first round of the tournament.

The French Open quarter-finalist won his first match in Marrakesh by 6-4 and 6-4.

However as for the former world rank no. 7 Fernando Verdasco, his first round match proved to be quite difficult as he got defeated by Adrian Menendez-Maceiras.

The Spanish player Menendez-Maceiras started his first tour-level match with a win by 5-7, 6-2 and 6-2 against the 6th seed Verdasco.

On the other hand, world no. 103 Lorenzo Sonego, although lost his first service points still managed to win over the 5th seed player Laslo Djere.

As for German player Philipp Kohlschreiber, he recovered from being a set down to win over his Alejandro Davidovich Fokina by 7-6 and 7-5.

Pierre-Hugues Herbert, the 8th seed of the tournament as well as his fellow French player Benoit Paire both started their tournament with a victory.

Herbert managed to struck 13 aces as he won over his Italian opponent Thomas Fabbiano by 6-7, 6-4 and 6-1. As for Paire, he won over Aljaz Bedene by 3-6, 6-4 and 7-5.

Jiri Vesely of Czech Republic won his match against Fabio Fogini by 7-6 and 6-2 which was his record 2nd win in a row against the world rank no. 18.

As for the match between Robin Hass and Malek Jaziri, Hass won the match by 6-3 and 6-4 while Pablo Andujar-Alba beat Federico Delbonis.

Somewhere in the WTA tournament of women’s singles in Switzerland, Antonia Lottner managed to defeat the top seed of the event Belinda Bencic as he won her first match in 9 months.

Lottner, the 22 years old German player who is ranked at 182 which is 160 places below Bencic managed to win the match by 7-5 and 6-2.
