Green hits 7 3s in 3rd quarter as Raptors top Grizzlies by 119-90

On Saturday night game of basketball, Danny Green dropped 3s after 3s and he heard something unusual, the crowd chanting his name.

Greene scored his season high of 24 points for the Toronto Raptors while also setting an NBA record for 3-pointers in a quarter as he shot 7 3-pointers in the third quarter. Green led the Toronto Raptors to win over the Memphis Grizzlies by 119-90 on Saturday night.

Green talking about the Danny, Danny chants said to media, “I have not heard that since I was a little kid and back then it was from my parents watching on the sidelines. It was fun.”

Other payers from Toronto like Serge Ibaka scored 18 points, Pascal Siakam had 17, to help the Raptors extend their winning streak to nine consecutive games. Toronto is now 24-0 at home this season.

Coach Nick Nurse said, “That was awesome. We had not had a game like this in a while. It was really good to see some of our shooters make the shots”.

Green had 21 points in the third quarter which is only 1 point shy of Kyle Lowry’s franchise record for a quarter. He still managed to match his career high of 8 3-pointers in a game. Green previously made eight 3-pointers back in 2013 against the Minnesota Timberwolves game.

The 45 points were the highest scoring quarter for the Raptors this season and also the highest scoring quarter in their franchise history.

Norma Powell of the Raptors scored 14 points while CJ Mitchell managed to match his season high of 13 points while Kyle Lowry scored 12. With this win, Raptors have now won seven of their last 8 games.

On the other hand, Memphis Grizzlies were led by Jaren Jackson Jr. who scored 16 points while Shelvin Mach scored 14 points, Ivan Rabb added in his 13 points with 10 rebounds. With this loss, Grizzlies have now lost 11th of their last 12 games and seven consecutive games lost on the road.

Up next, Memphis Grizzlies will host a game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night whereas Toronto Raptors will host a game against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.
