Miller replaced by Ruiz Jr. as an opponent for a match with Anthony Joshua

After Jarrell Miller was replaced from the fight with Antony Joshua, his place will be taken by Andy Ruiz Jr. as he bids to become the first heavyweight Mexican boxer.

Miller was withdrawn for the fight against the unbeaten WBA, IBF and WBO titleholder Anthony Joshua ahead of their fight on June 1st at the Madison Square Garden after he was found involved in doping violations.

The 29 years old Andy Ruiz Jr. who is currently based in California is now getting his second shot at the world title having previously lost the chance on point against the ex WBO champion Joseph Parker back in December of 2016.

That was his only defeat in his career of 33 professional fights. His last fight was fought ten days ago against Alexander Dimitrenko which he won by stoppage.

As for Joshua, his career record is 22-0 with 21 KOs. His last fight was at the Wembley Stadium back in September last year against Alexander Povetkin. As for this fight, this is AJ’s first fight in the USA.

Joshua talking about Ruiz Jr. said, “This is the next best shot. Who else is there to contest against? If anyone could name anyone who was better than him, I was all ears. When we looked for the scope of the next big name, he was the next best thing available at the moment.”

As for Ruiz, he says, Joshua’s style is like a robot.

Ruiz Jr. said, “I think that with my style, my movement, and my speed, he has not fought anyone like me before. When I pull out this win, everything is going to change and it is going to mean everything.”

While talking about doping violations, Joshua said that the random six-month ban which has been handed to Miller is not enough of a punishment to deter other fighters.
