US beats Poland by 87-74 to take 7th place at the World Cup

Even after the final game of team US got over, all the squad the coaches of the tea kept on lingering around the court. They were all set to return home. But they were not ready to go on to their separate ways.

For the USA basketball, this world cup ended with the 87-74 win against Poland to take the 7th place at this World Cup which is the lowest ever US has finished at any international basketball event.

Donavon Mitchell took lead of US with his 16 points along with 10 assists while Joe Harris added in his 14 points as US wrapped their trip to China with a record of 6-2.

After all of it was over and the players were signing jerseys of each other in the locker room, the coach Gregg Popovich said that the team had nothing that needs to be ashamed of.

Popovich said, “If you don’t get the win, some people are going to play their blame game but there is no blame to be placed here. They only play the shame game like we should have won the gold medal. This is a ridiculous type of attitude and is an amateur one too.”

As for what’s next for US in the International event is that they have already been qualified for the next year’s Tokyo Olympics whereas Poland will participate in the qualifiers of the Tokyo Olympics next year.
