Washington Redskins’ ruled out Montae Nicholson from Sunday’s game following assault and battery charge

Washington Redskins announced on Thursday that they have ruled out Montae Nicholson from their Sunday’s game following the player’s charges for battery and assault earlier this week for which he was arrested.

Nicholson was arrested by Police on Tuesday. He was charged with battery, assault, and being drunk in public. He was arrested for the alleged fight from a restaurant and then a retail complex located near the team’s facility in Ashburn, Virginia.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kraig Troxell confirmed the news of Nicholson’s arrest to media and also said that 23 years old has been released following his arrest for bail money of 2500 dollars.

According to the police report, Nicholson and the 24 years old Sydney Maggiore were involved in some verbal altercation on Tuesday night which later escalated into a physical assault of the two victims. One of them was a man who was beaten by Nicholson while other who was a woman was beaten by Maggiore.

Police also believes that Maggiore also used what appeared to be a bottle as a weapon. Both of these victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

Nicholson is still to be officially suspended by Redskins.

Coach Jay Gruden said to media, “we do not know the full story yet. We are going to have the discussion right after this practice and then decide what to do”. Nicholson is a fourth-round draft pick up by Redskins in the 2017 NFL draft out of Michigan State. He is currently playing in his second NFL season. In his past 14 games with Redskins, he has played in 14 games and had 14 combined tackles with one pass defended.
