French Open; Naomi Osaka’s run at the tournament continues

Naomi Osaka, the current world rank no. 1 has managed to fend off another scare as she reached the 3rd round of the French Open.

21 years old Osaka who is bidding to win her 3rd Grand Slam title earlier lost a set by 6-0 bagel on Tuesday against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova but was able to win the match.

In the Thursday match for the current world no., 1nad the former world no. 1 the match was thrilling one which Osaka ended up winning by 4-6, 7-5 and 6-3.

Osaka lost the first set but then showed her grit and mentality that was a testament as to how she got to the top and ultimately won the match.

With this win, Osaka will now play against the world rank no. 42 Katerina Siniakova who earlier defeated the 29th seeded Greek player Maria Sakkari by 7-6, 6-7, and 6-3.

As for Serena Williams, she once again showed her dominant style as she defeated the Japanese qualifying player Kurumi Nara by 6-3 and 6-2.

Earlier on her Monday’s match, Serena looked a little rusty as she said that she left as if she had concrete blocks in her feet.

Williams will now next face the young American player Sofia Kenin who got a walkover after Bianca Andreescu withdraws from the tournament.

As for the Amanda Anisimova, the American teenager in the tournament she proved to be bad luck for Aryana Sabalenka at these Grand Slam events.

Back in January at the Australian Open, Anisimova defeated Sabalenka in the third round and now again defeated her at the 2nd round of the French Open by 6-4 and 6-2.
