Kyle Edmund advances at Citi Open while Evans gets defeated

Kyle Edmund the British no. 1 was able to cruise into the 3rd round of the Citi Open in Washington while his fellow countryman Dan Evans suffered from an early exit.

Edmund who earlier got a bye to the 2nd round was set up for a match against Lloyd Harris of South Africa. He concluded their match in mere 69 minutes to win by 6-1 and 6-4.

Edmund, the world rank no. 34, outclassed Harris who had previously won a set against Roger Federer at their Wimbledon match this year, is now next going to play against the Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga who earlier won against the 2ndd seeded player of the tournament; Karen Khachanov.

As for Dan Evans, he was pitted against Japanese star player and world rank no. 77; Yoshihito Nishioka. During heir match, Evans lost 9 of their 10 games to ultimately lose the match by 6-4 and 6-1 in the first round.

With Evans now exiting in the first round in Washington, he will now bid his talents at the Rogers Cup which will be held in Montreal but for that he needs to qualify for the main draw.

Jo- Wilfried Tsonga defeated Karen Khachanov by 6-4, 2-6 and 7-5. In men’s draw Daniil Medvedev, Frances Tiafoe and Marin Cilic also advanced to the 2nd round.

Somewhere else, Cameron Norrie also made it to the 2nd round of the Los Cabos Open held in Mexico.

The 23 years old Norrie who made it to the semifinals of the Atlanta Open last week defeated Gregoire Barrere by 7-6 and 6-0.
