Nicola Adams becomes the new WBO flyweight champion after Arely Mucino suffers injury

The previous holder of the WBO Flyweight belt was Arely Mucino but she suffered an injury and thus made Nicola Adams the new champion of the title.

Adams, the fighter form England was previously both the interim champion and the mandatory challenger to Mucino.

According to a statement from WBO, Mucino of Mexico was now unfit to make a return to the active competition within the set time period due to her injury.

Following this, Adams has now been upgraded to be the new champion of a world title for the very first time.

36 years old Adams has an unbeaten record in her last 5 professional fights and she was now due for a fight against Mucino soon before she had to withdraw due to her injury.

Adams is also the first ever female boxer from England to be the winner of the Olympic Gold Medal in boxing which she did in London 2012 games. She went on the replicate the same thing at the Rio 2016 Olympics becoming the double Gold Medal female boxing champion.
