Ronaldo scores to led Juventus 2-0 win over Leverkusen in Champions League

A goal was scored by Cristiano Ronaldo for Juventus which led to the team finishing the group D of the Champions League with a 2-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen this Wednesday.

Juventus w already assured for having the top place of the Group D of Champions League and they seemed a little sluggish considering this surety against their German rival club. Still, the pace was picked up by Ronaldo first as he scored a goal from the close range following a pass from Paulo Dybala during the 75th minute of the game.  This was the 2nd goal from the Star of Portugal for this season of Champions League.

Gonzalo Higuain was able to score the 2nd goal of the team to make the score 2-0 during the stoppage time following another assist from the substitute player Dybala. With this win, Juventus has bounced back from their first loss of the Champions League which they suffered on Saturday against Lazio.

Higuain said, “We struggled a little bit during the 1st half with our approach but then we played much better in the 2nd half and we deserved this win.  We wanted the win after losing for the first time at a weekend match.”

As for Leverkusen, they had a very slim chance of advancing to the Champions League quarterfinals if they had managed to beat Juventus long with the hope of Atletico Madrid failing to defeat their opponents Lokomotiv Moscow at their home game in another match of the Group D.

This hope for Leverkusen came to an abrupt end after Atletico Madrid Jao Felix scored the goal with a 17th-minute penalty shot to allow for his team to win by 2-0. With the group matches concluded, the German club now finishes at 3rd place in Group D.

Despite having little to no chance of making it to the round of 16 of the Champions League, Leverkusen put up quite a performance for the season after they started the group campaign with 3 losses in a row.
