Haney vs. Abdullaev: Devin Haney wins the WBC Interim title belt by stoppage victory over Zaur Abdullaev

In the title fight for the WBC Interim World Lightweight belt between Devin Haney, and Zaur Abdullaev, Haney was spectacular as he made a stoppage victory over his opponent in a fight held in New York.

In the fight held at the Madison Square garden, Haney was a class above his previously unbeaten Russian opponent as he completely dominated his opponent in the proceedings. The corner of Abdullaev was forced to pull their fighter out of the ring forbidding him going through more of the punishing rounds.

With this win, 20 years old Haney as now improved his fight career record to 23-0 and has now called out to the WBC champion, Vasiliy Lomachenko.

The fight had a comfortable start for Haney aka ‘The dream’ in this lightweight fight in Las Vegas as he took control in the opening round all thanks to his ramming jab. As for Abdullaev he could only put up little resistance to this fighting force.

Abdullaev started doing attacks during the 3rd round but it proved little at that time in the fight as the American star kept on pounding the Russian’s body followed by a fast uppercut and 2 right punches. Each of the punch from Haney did considerable damage to his opponent.

After the break of 1 minute, Haney once again started pummeling his opponent and his strong rights causing the knees of Russian to sag further into the 3 minute round.

After the 4th round’s punishment, Abdullaev went back to his corner and it was then that his team decided to call the fight off as the fighter had possibly suffered a fractured cheekbone.

Hani also confirmed that he is most likely to fight in Las Vegas on November 9th.
