Spanish League; Sevilla beats Alaves as they move closer to Champions League spot

Sevilla is now once again back into the fight for a spot in the Champions League as they secured a 2-0 victory over Alaves on Thursday in the Spanish league.

2 goals were scored by Roque Mesa and Pablo Sarabia in both half of the game as they helped Sevilla move with one point for the 4th place Getafe in the qualification position fo4er the next season of the Champions League.

Seville is currently at the 6th place and is tied for the points with Valencia which defeated Real Madrid by 2-1 at home earlier on Wednesday.

As for Alaves, they have been dropped 2 points behind at 7th position behind Seville. The Alaves club was at one point in the top of the rankings for the most of the season as much as the 2nd spot.

Victor Laguardia, defender of Alaves said, “Our main goal was to escape any relegation and we managed to do that tonight in advance. Now we are going to fight as hard as possible and try to make it for playing in the European event.”

Seville, who was coming off from a loss against Valencia, has won 3 of their last 4 matches with this win.

Sarabia said, “It was very important for us to win this match and stay in the fight for the fourth spot. We were not expecting to suffer a loss against Valencia. It is going to be a struggle until the end.”
