Josh Gordon; New England Patriots receiver steps away from NFL to focus on mental health

The wide recover for New England Patriots; Josh Gordon announced that he is going to step away from the sport to focus on his mental health.

Gordon was traded before the beginning of the season from Cleveland Browns to New England Patriots. He announced his decision on Thursday morning to the world through his social media account.

27 years old said that he is spurred by the feeling that he could have a better grasp on things mentally. He also thanked Patriots for their support and also said that he will work his way back to the team.




Gordon, since being drafted by Browns in the 2012 NFL draft had been suspended by NFL multiple times for his drug violations. Any type f NL drug abuse violation can lead to a lifetime ban.

He also missed the 2015 and 2016’s season due to his drug abuse and violation of NFL’s policies. Before Browns traded off Gordon, Browns officials said to media that they feel its time to cut Gordon lose.

Gordon played in the 2013’s All-Pro season and had 83 receptions off his 1646 yards along with 9 TDs. since joining the New England Patriots; he had caught 40 passes for 720 yards along with 3 TDs.

New England Patriots with Gordon leaving will have no leading receiver. Their tight end Rob Gronkowski has been not his All-Pro self since his injuries. However, Gronkowski is still third on team’s list with his 45 catches and 3 scores this season.

New England Patriots, who are 9-5 on the season, are making a push to make it into the playoffs. They lost their previous match against Pittsburgh Steelers where their offense could only manage 10 points. In the Patriots’ previous five losses, they have only managed to score 10 points.
