Spurs rally and beat Knicks by 120-111 to spoil Barrett’s debut

The game of basketball between New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs ended with 120-111 win for the Spurs with their late rally. LaMarcus Aldridge led the team with his 22 points while Bryn Forbes scored 20 points and spoiled the debut for RJ Barrett, who was playing for the New York Knicks for the very time.

Spurs were able to make short work of Knicks in the final half as they scored 37-27 following a late rally form Barrett. Barrett, in this debut game, scored 21 points along with 5 rebounds and 2 assists during his 37 minutes gameplay.

Barrett said, “You have got to keep on putting the pressure on them. Just like this, we are not going to quit and they are also not going to quit.”

Knicks have placed high hopes for the team in Barrett who is their no. 3 overall pick of the 2019 draft out of Duke. He was signed by the team after they failed to sign any of the marquee free agents during the postseason.

David Fizdale, the coach of the Knicks said, “I told you that when the popcorn is popping, this kid is also ready.”

Knicks were led by Marcus Morris who scored 26 points while Julius Randle scored 25 points along with his 11 rebounds.

As for the San Antonio Spurs, they have also put their trust in Murray who is playing the first game for the team since he suffered a right ACL injury in the preseason game last year in October.

Murray said, “I am blessed and really thankful. I put in the work but now I have got to work harder. A year ago I was at home and I could not walk and now one year later I am playing against. So yes, I am really thankful.”

Up next, New York Knicks will be hosting a game against the Washington Wizards on Saturday night while Spurs will play on Friday night against Brooklyn Nets.
