Real Madrid wins over Alavés by 2-1 as they move ahead of Barcelona in Spanish League

The match for the Spanish League between Real Madrid and Alavés was played under heavy rain and extremely cold weather.  However, Real Madrid was able to hold on despite the unfavorable conditions to gain a tough victory and also to mount up pressure over Barcelona as they now hold the top spot in the Spanish League.

The two goals of Real Madrid were scored by Sergio Ramos and Dani Carvajal respectively during the 2nd half as they defeated the opponents of Basque County by 2-1.  With this win, Madrid has taken over the lead ahead of Barcelona, which will play against the 5th spot Atlético Madrid this Sunday.




Marcelo, the left-back for the Real Madrid said, “We were able to overcome the rain, the extreme cold, and the hard fouls. T is through these types of matches that you are able to win the league.”

This win caused Real Madrid to hold a 3 points lead against Barcelona with both teams still having one game left to play.

For Real Madrid, this was their 3rd straight win in Spanish League matches and to remain unbeaten for the 8 matches played in all competitions this year.

Zinedine Zidane, the coach for Real Madrid said, “It was a very important win for us and we are not at all concerned about the outcome of the match Barcelona vs. Atlético.”

The goal from Ramos was scored by a header set up by teammate Toni Kroos during the 52nd minute of the game. Ramos then committed a penalty against Alavés which was then converted to a goal for Alavés by Lucas Pérez during the 65th minute. As for Ramos, he was given the yellow card for the foul as he hit Joseule, forward for Alavés with an elbow.

With this goal, Pérez of Alavés has now scored 8 goals for the team in their last 9 Spanish League matches.
