Sheffield United beats West Ham by 1-0 to be 5th in English Premier League

In the English Premier League game between West Ham and Sheffield United; Sheffield United defeated West Ham by 1-0 to be on the 5th place of the English Premier League standings on Friday. West ham was denied the game-tying goal by the VAR during the injury time.

Oliver McBurnie, the record signing of Sheffield United scored the only goal for the team during the 2nd half which was made possible on a mistake made by David Martin, the goalkeeper of the West Ham.

Robert Snodgrass, the substitute midfield player of West Ham looked to allow his team a draw in this match near the end but the VAR showed that the ball hit his arm during the goal attempt.

The decision of VAR was enjoyed by Sheffield United team and fans like a 2nd goal for the team and also ensured for them to be on the winning ways after having a tough period in the English Premier League where they face teams like Liverpool and Manchester City in back-to-back games.

For Sheffield United’s manager Chris Wilder, this was a double celebration who had a contract extension signed back in 2014. Since him taking the charge of the team back in 2016, he has taken the team from their 1st place in the English Premier League to the 5th.

The troubles of West Ham started during the 12th minute after their goalie Lukasz Fabianski, who only returned from his 3-month leave due to his hip surgery, kicked the ball and then winced in pain. He immediately called for the bench before he sat down on the ground in pain and dismay. He was then replaced by Martin.

Martin tied to look for Fabian Balbuena who was outside of penalty area with his goal kick but the pass went loose and the ball was pounced upon by John Fleck. But despite their last-minute efforts, their only goal of the game in attempts for the draw was disapproved of a VAR decision.
